Monica was born in 1968 in the Italian village of Citta di Castello,
While at the University of Perugia, she modeled on the side to earn money for school, and this led to her modeling career.
In 1988, she moved to Milan, and joined Elite Model Management.
She is a very successful model and has also been successful in movies. These include Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), L'Appartement (1996), Malena (2000), Under Suspicion (2000), Le Pacte des loups (2001), Irreversible (2002), The Matrix: Reloaded (2003), The Passion of the Christ (2004) and Shoot 'Em Up (2007).
Monica currently lives in the UK.
- Monica's hobbies include romance novels, opera and taking her child to the park.
- Her favorite actresses are Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale.
- Monica doesn't always live with her husband Vincent Cassel. To keep their relationship healthy, he lives in Paris and she lives in London.
